(Re)make a movie. Win a Computer.
HDforIndies posted a note about the FilmMakingFrenzy.com “Rewind Kindly” filmmaking contest. Inspired by the upcoming Jack Black film “Be Kind, Rewind.”
I just saw the trailer for this film this past weekend and it was the first time I laughed out loud several times in a theatre— and this was just the preview. As one of all those who has tried to make something high quality, it is downright hilarious to see the goofball way they parody (or maybe truly try to remake) some of the films shown in Be Kind, Rewind.

Director Michel Gondry continues the surreal efforts of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless MindBe Kind Rewind. Jack Black plays a man who accidentally erases every movie at a local video store, then he and the video store employee, played by Mos Def, must reconstruct every film by acting them out. with the imaginative comedy
About the Contest:
Beginning on January 1, teams can register on this website to compete in a filmmaking competition inspired by BE KIND REWIND. Teams will have until January 18 to complete an up-to-five-minute, homemade, low-budget remake of a popular hollywood film. Films will be screened at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema on January 22nd and 23rd, with a “best of” screening and awards ceremony on Jan 24.
Grand prize for Rewind Kindly is a quad-core AMD-powered Dell workstation with a 30-inch monitor. 2nd prize is an AMD-powered 17″ Dell laptop. The winning films will also be included in the Alamo preshow for the duration of the BE KIND REWIND theatrical engagement.
